Hey everyone, I know it has been about two weeks since I posted a blog update!! We were in Kwaggafontein for about 6 days. We were planning on tent camping but the conditions did not allow for it once we got there. We slept in these adorable little African huts!! But, we did have a few few room mates including some friendly little ants and roaches as well as some sweet little mice. :)) It was an adjustment at first, but I think this past week has held some of my favorite moments so far!! We did alot of work in schools talking specifically on dreams! When we left on Saturday it was a two hour drive to where we were staying and once we got there, we got set up and then made dinner. On Sunday we went to African church and had most of the rest of the day off.

Monday we kicked it into gear with ministry with a very large school. They were very interactive and we also got to perform our short drama for them. They absolutely loved the drama and it was so much fun to perform and showed me ho much I miss theatre! The drama was called the everything skit. It starts with God and He creates this girl and they live and perfect harmony and He shows her all of creation that He has made. Then temptations come along starting with a boy who pushes her farther from God. Then when the boy leaves her, she turns to chasing money and trying to get rich. When that doesn’t fill her, she turns to drugs and alcohol. She gets drunk and super broken down. Then someone comes along and tells her that she isn’t pretty enough and she needs to change herself to be good enough. She turns to throwing up her food and trying to be thinner and prettier. Then the devil comes along (which was the part i played….oof) and tells her that at this point she is to broken and worthless to be good for God anymore. He pursuades her to start self harm and cutting. He then hands her a gun and tells her she should just end it all. Eventually she decides against that and runs back towards God but all the past mistakes and temptations are standing in her way and pushing her back down. God then steps in takes the weight of all her past trauma and sins and raises her up and cleans her off. It is such a powerful production that reached to so many kids!! Later that day we did some outreach in a close by community. Me met Mrs. Johanna and Mrs. Dora this day and they were so welcoming and kind. They had wonderful hospitality and they reminded me so much of my great-grandmother. Just the way they talked and walked and interacted with us. It was such a refreshing and relaxing conversation. They are believers and attend church. They gave us some advice for life and in general. They said, “Always pray and love Jesus, always respect your elders and make good choices!” I think they were some of my favorite people i have got to talk to yet.

Tuesday we did the skit again but it was a much smaller school. But they were so excited to see it and interacted well. We then taught about dreams in the classrooms and we got to share some of our testimonies with them. Afterwards, we headed back towards base and got to spend a little bit of our time at the school hardly 200 feet from where I slept. These kids are so sweet and so happy! We then went to the soccer pitch behind the school and had music and dancing and invited every kid we saw to come!! We learned a new African dance which is so so fun and energetic! It’s called the Jerusalema. They loved teaching us and we loved learning from them. We got to teach them church clap, cupid shuffle and the electric slide!

Wednesday we went to the school prepared to do the skit but plans changed! We got there and the speaker was not working so we ended up preaching to a few hundred kids on the soccer pitch about dreams. Afterwards, someone from the school brought us a cord so our speaker would work so we got to dance and sing and perform the skit for them up on a bank! They loved it like every other school and wanted to see all of us and stay there instead of going to class afterwards. We left for another school and it was pretty rowdy. Some of them recognized us from the soccer pitch when we were dancing and singing on the day before. I walked into one of the classes and it was like i was a celebrity. Most kids in that class knew my name and it took a second to calm them down so we could start talking. This school was great and i loved talking to some of the older kids (10th-12th grade) that really grasped the full topic.

Thursday we went to a 6th and 7th grade school and first performed our skit for them and did some other dancing as well! After that we split into two teams to go to the classrooms and preach on dreams. These kids were so sweet and so interactive! That was our last school we did while in Kwaggafontein and it was a little sad. As crazy as the week started out, I didn’t want to leave.

The next day, Friday, we were leaving. We got to say goodbye to all the sweet kids at the school across the property from us. I’m going to miss walking through that gate and having 50-100 toddlers coming running at me for hugs. The goodbyes were hard but i hope to see them again at some point!! Before we headed straight home we got to go to the disability center and hang out with so many sweet kids. The minute you walk through the door every single kid would come up and give you a hug. They were so happy to see us and we were so happy to see them. They performed a little show for us so we also performed our skit! We only got to stay there 2 hours and I wish we had more time. After that we headed straight back to the base and got to see all the interns living at Impact and also prepare ourselves to leave for EsWatini (Swaziland).

We leave Wednesday morning and that for most of ya’ll is late Tuesday evening. We have a 6 hour drive to base but we also have to stop at the border so it could be closer to 7 hours. I’m so excited to see how God is going to continue to move through my team, the ministry hosts and all the people we meet on the field. I may have access to wifi some but once a week or less is expected. I’m not sure when my next blog will be but I will tell you about EsWatini as soon as I can!!

I hope ya’ll have enjoyed the pictures, reading about ministry, our travel and what God is doing overseas! So excited to see our next big adventure! Stay safe everyone!! <3
